Quetta: QUETTA: A victim of enforced disappearance Zaman Khan Marri, whose body was recovered from Mastung, was laid to rest Monday at the “Martyrs of Balochistan Graveyard” in Quetta, capital of Balochistan.Hundreds of Baloch activists from different political parties, student organisations, lawyers and residents of New Kahan and Killi Kamaloo paid their last respects to Marri, who was a lawyer of the Balochistan high court. His grave was draped in the flag of Balochistan’s to let the world know that Marri’s sacrifice will not go in vain.Zaman Marri was abducted on August 19 near his Regal Plaza law practice office on Jinnah Road in dowtown Quetta just he had finished work to return home. The Military Intelligence is widely suspected of being involved in his kidnapping.Marri, once a resident of New Kahan – also called Gaza Strip of Balochistan — had shifted to Killi Kamalo near Sariab Road.He was regarded by many as an honest lawyer and had voluntarily helped the Baloch victims of enforced disappearances but himself became a victim of the Military Intelligence. He was representing many Baloch political activist free of charge in the courts of law and was crusading against Pakistan’s atrocities against Baloch people in the legal arena.[img align=left width=300]http://balochwarna.org/mowali/zaman%20Marri.jpg[/img]According to eyewitness’ accounts Zaman Marri’s body bore signs of extreme torture. There were marks of shackles around his feet and hands which showed that he was kept chained and tortured before being shot in the head.Meanwhile, Baloch political partiesand civil society organizations strongly condemned the inhuman and cold-blooded murder of Zaman Marri.Nasrullah Baloch, president of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons said that the Pakistani state intelligence agencies are violating international human rights laws, yet the silence of U.N. and other human rights organizations is beyond his comprehension.Abdul Qadeer Reki, vice chairman of V.B.M.P., has also strongly condemned the murder of Zaman Marri. He said that Pakistan military and other security forces have started killing Baluch victims of enforced disapperances one after another which is a matter of grave concern for the Baloch Nation. Both Baloch and reki are now members of the International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons.Reki urged the U.N. secretary-general Mr. Ban Ki-moon to take notice of the killing of Baloch political activists who are in the illegal custody of Pakistani security forces.The Baloch Students Organization Azad the brutal and inhuman killing of Marri as as a continuation of the ongoing genocide of Baloch people. The BSO Azad central spokesperson said Pakistan wanted to strengthen its illegal occupation on Baloch land by resorting to savagery, but the Baloch are now mentally and physically prepared to combat the barbarism of Pakistan.The Baloch Republican Party and Baloch National Movement have also strongly condemned the killing of Zaman Marri and have demanded the safe and early release of all Baloch victims of enforced disappearances.
