Protest to greet Pakistan coup plotter, ‘Butcher of Balochistan’ in Vancouver

VANCOUVER: The pro-independence International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons is planning to join the protest organized by Sindh democrats against Pakistan’s ousted coup plotter when he arrives in Vancouver.Former military junta chief, General Pervez Musharraf, who was called Pakistan’s Augosto Pinochet by the Los Angeles Times, has been invited by the conservative Bon Mot Book Club to speak on January 19 for a fee of $100,000. The criminal Pakistan general had unleashed a military operation that saw former Balochistan governor and chief minister Nawab Akbar Bugti among thousands of Baloch patriots killed on August 26, 2006. The military operation is still ongoing in Balochistan and Pakistan has adopted what is called kill-and-dump policy in Texas-sized Balochistan.”Why is Canadian money being wasted on this despot?” asks I.V.B.M.P. Canada coordinator Aziz Baloch, who plans to protest Musharraf’s presence in Vancouver along with Waja Frank Baloch and activists of Baloch Human Rights Council of Canada.Baloch said Musharraf had not only sowed death and destruction in Balochistan but also made sexist remarks against Pakistani women that were widely condemned all over the world and in Canada. The Baloch activist recalled that In an interview to the Washington Postin September 2005 Musharraf said that Pakistani women, who were the victims of rape, treated rape as a “moneymaking concern” and were only interested in the publicity in order to make money and get a Canadian visa. He subsequently denied making these comments, but the Washington Post made available an audio recording of the interview, in which Musharraf could be heard making the quoted remark.International reactions included the Canadian Prime Minister, Paul Martin, who condemned the remarks.”Do you want a Canadian visa?” get your self raped Amnesty International said “This callous and insulting statement requires a public apology from President Musharraf to the women of Pakistan and especially to victims of rape, sexual assault and other forms of violence that are rampant with impunity in Pakistan. His statement is an offence to women all over the world.”Baloch said it was even a greater shame that Musharraf has been invited by a Canadian organization as the victim of a rape case, Dr. Shazia Khalid, whose rape on the wintry night of January 2005, had led to the mass Baloch uprising in Balochistan is also in Canada.Balochistan patriots insist the only solution is creation of an independent country.http://www.examiner.com/foreign-policy-in-baltimore/protest-to-greet-pakistan-coup-plotter-butcher-of-balochistan-canada
