The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has accused the government of ignoring orders of the Supreme Court for recovery of missing persons and appealed to international humanitarian organisations to take notice of the alleged human rights violations in Balochistan. The VBMP activists demonstrated outside the press club on the “International day of missing persons” on Friday and called for immediate recovery of the missing people. The VBMP chairman, Nasrullah Bungulzai, told the rally that people began going missing during the rule of dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf. But people were still getting disappeared despite the formation of the so-called democratic governments. He said that it was the responsibility of the government to respect the directives of the apex court on the issue, adding that the cases increased because of the government’s lukewarm stance over the matter.Mr Bungulzai condemned what he called raids on the houses of Baloch political workers by security forces and said they were being conducted in violation of the constitution and law.He said the dumping of mutilated bodies had also increased and now the bullet-riddled bodies were also being dumped outside Balochistan, particularly in Karachi.
