Two Baloch activists deported from Germany are still missing

Two Baloch activists who were deported by German authorities last year are still missing after being abducted by the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) of Pakistan from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The residents of Dalsar in district Kech Balochistan, Naeem son of Haji Chakar and Qabus son of Abdul Karim Baloch had decided to go back voluntarily to Balochistan after Pakistani authorities started harassing and intimidating their families, the German authorities repatriated both men on May 14, 2016, at 4:30 pm.The men had vanished from Karachi airport and never made to their families. The relatives of Naeem and Qabus waited outside for several hours and when there was no sign of their loved one, they contacted the FIA about the whereabouts of their relatives. One of the FIA demand a substantial sum and promised to release the Baloch activists. The families have paid the demanded sum of 70,000 Pakistani Rupees but the men were never released. Instead, the airport authorities denied their arrival, when the families of Naeem and Qabus inquired again.Naim and Qabus are missing since then and the families remain clueless about their whereabouts, the FIA has not released the Baloch activists but instead handed them over to Pakistani intelligence agencies. They are still in the custody of Pakistani forces and their families now fears for their lives. It is pertinent to mention that hundreds of Baloch activists have fled to Europe including Germany and other Western countries due to continuous threats to their lives by the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies and their proxy Jihadist organisations. Many of the Baloch asylum seekers have directly experienced torture and mistreatment at the hands of Pakistani forces.Several have lost their loved ones at the hand of Pakistani forces who were either abducted and killed in custody or killed during indiscriminate bombardment on their homes in Balochistan. There are hundreds of thousands Pakistani economic migrants who went to Europe for a better life and to improve their economic conditions, but there are only few hundred Baloch political refugees from Pakistan-occupied Balochistan in Germany and rest of the Europe compared to hundreds of thousand Pakistani economic migrants. The Baloch political asylum seekers face many hurdles in Europe one of which is the lack of Balochi language translators and interpreters, hence the Baloch refugees complain that Pakistani biased interpreters distort their cases and present the wrong history of Balochistan conflict to the respected of authorities of the host countries. The Baloch asylum seeker in Germany are fearful of the result of their asylum cases because if they political application for asylum are rejected, they might be deported back to Pakistan occupied Balochistan where the Pakistani forces will arrest, torture and kill them like thousands of Baloch political and human rights activists that Pakistani forces have already killed in their captivity. The Baloch political activists in Germany say that Pakistan is committing gross human rights violations in Balochistan and more than 20,000 Baloch including women and children have been forced-disappeared by Pakistani forces. Pakistani forces have killed around 6,000 Baloch in custody under the notorious ‘kill and dump’ policy and dumped their dead bodies in different areas in Balochistan and Karachi. There is a total media blackout in Balochistan, hence the European countries including Germany and other Western host countries’ immigration department/authorities should check Pakistan’s record of human rights violations and the historical background of Balochistan’s conflict with Pakistan and take the Pakistani state atrocities and historical perspective of Baloch struggle against Pakistan into account while deciding the political asylum applications of Baloch refugees.
