Zahedaan – A prominent Sunni cleric in Zahedan and advisor to Maulvi Abdul Hamid, has been arrested by the security forces on Monday evening on 30 January 2023.”Halwash” website, quoting eyewitnesses, reported that Maulvi Muradzehi was on his way to his home returning from a funeral ceremony when security forces with four vehicles arrested him and took him to the detention center and told his companions to follow up with the special clerical court.
Moulvi Muradzahi is an experienced clerk at Dar-ul-Uloom Zahedan and is the director of Farooq Azam Zahedan Publications and Al Mortaza Cultural Research Institute. On Monday evening, IRNA news agency confirmed the arrest of this influential Sunni cleric, quoting an “informed source”, and wrote that he was accused of “confounding the public mind, he has numerous contacts with foreign people and media, and distorting public opinion.
However, Baloch human rights defendants say the crime of Maulvi Abdul Majeed Murazai is that he has opposed the repressive tactics used by Iranian regime to oppress Baloch people and advocated for democratic rights of Baloch nation.
