Condemnation of the Reported Airstrike on Civilians in BalochistanInternational Voice for Baloch Missing PersonsInternational Voice for Baloch Missing Persons strongly condemns the reported airstrike carried out last night in the Gidar area of Surab which according to local sources resulted in the deaths of 27 civilians including women and children while several others were reportedly injured. If confirmed an attack that deliberately or indiscriminately targets civilians would constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law and may amount to a war crime.International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons calls for an immediate, independent transparent and internationally monitored investigation into the reported incident. The identities and circumstances of those killed and injured must be documented and made public and anyone responsible for unlawful attacks on civilians must be held accountable. The protection of civilian life particularly that of women and children is a fundamental obligation and all military operations must comply with international humanitarian law.
