
Kashif Yaqoob
IVBMP, Kashif Yaqoob, a young man from the Kalari area of Lyari in Karachi, who was allegedly detained by security agencies on the night of February 18, has been released. According to his family, he has safely returned home.
Family sources stated that at around 2:00 A.M. on February 18, unidentified officials took Kashif Yaqoob from his residence, after which his whereabouts remained unknown. The incident caused serious concern among his family and human rights circles.
The family further said that Kashif Yaqoob had previously been detained on July 29 during a raid on his shop located in Ama Tower. He was released a few months later.
According to his relatives, in the recent incident as well, he was taken from his home without any judicial warrant or formal charges.
Sources reported that operations were conducted by the Pakistan Rangers and local police in various areas of Lyari, during which at least 13 individuals were detained. However, authorities have not issued any official statement regarding these operations or Kashif Yaqoob’s detention.
Human rights groups strongly reacted to his alleged disappearance, demanding that if there were any allegations against him, they should be presented in accordance with the Constitution and the law. Otherwise, they called for his immediate release.
Kashif Yaqoob was released later that night. According to his family, he is physically unharmed and has returned home safely. Nevertheless, the incident has caused significant psychological distress to him and his family.
