INTERNATIONAL VOICE FOR BALOCH MISSING PERSONS (IVBMP) EXPRESSES DEEP CONCERN OVER THE ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCE OF 18-YEAR-OLD BALOCH YOUTH YASIN MAHMOODZEHI

– June 18, 2026: The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest and subsequent enforced disappearance of an 18-year-old Baloch youth, Yasin Mahmoodzehi, by Iranian plainclothes security forces in Balochistan.
According to verified human rights reports from the region, Yasin Mahmoodzehi (son of Reza), a resident of Shirvan village in the Sib and Suran county, was detained by plainclothes intelligence agents on Monday, June 15, 2026.
Four days after his abduction, his whereabouts and the reasons for his arrest remain entirely unknown. Despite exhaustive efforts and repeated inquiries by his family at various government and security centers, Iranian authorities have refused to provide any information regarding his legal status, well-being, or place of detention.
The practice of arbitrary detentions without warrants, combined with a total lack of transparency and a refusal to inform families, is a systemic violation of human rights widely used by Iranian authorities in Balochistan. Holding individuals in long-term incommunicado detention places them at extreme risk of torture and forced confessions.
IVBMP raises its voice to express profound solidarity with Yasin Mahmoodzehi’s deeply distressed family.
We urgently call upon the United Nations Human Rights Council, the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID), and international human rights organizations to intervene in this case and hold the Iranian government accountable for the continuous pattern of enforced disappearances targeting Baloch citizens.
