Balochistan — A prominent Baloch cultural activist, author, and educator has been forcibly disappeared by security forces in the city of Mehrestan.
The individual, identified as Abdul Khaliq Dahani, was detained by the Iranian security personnel on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Following his arrest, Dahani was moved to an undisclosed location, and state authorities have yet to provide any formal explanation or acknowledge his custody.
Dahani is a recognized figure in the region, highly active as an educator and writer dedicated to the promotion of Baloch language and literature. His current location and legal status remain completely unknown, causing deep distress to his family and the local literary community.
The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) strongly condemns the targeting of intellectuals, teachers, and cultural figures. The organization calls upon international human rights bodies and global literary groups to demand immediate clarity on Dahani’s safety, his official legal status, and his urgent release.
