Baloch University Student Enforcedly Disappeared from Karachi

KARACHI — A 25-year-old Baloch student has been forcibly disappeared from Karachi, marking another case in the ongoing trend of targeting educated Baloch youth, according to human rights monitors.
The student, identified as Hafeez Iqbal, son of Muhammad Iqbal, was abducted during the night hours of June 17, 2026. Reports indicate that intelligence personnel from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) carried out the raid in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighborhood of Karachi, taking him to an unknown location.
Iqbal, a resident of Paroom in the Panjgur district of Balochistan, is a student at Peshawar University. His current whereabouts and the reasons for his detention remain entirely unknown, as no official charges have been presented by state authorities.
The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) has voiced grave concern over the incident, highlighting that the profiling and enforced disappearance of Baloch students from major urban centers across Balochistan continues unabated. The organization has called upon local and international human rights bodies to demand his immediate safe recovery and an end to arbitrary detentions.
