ZAHEDAN, Balochistan : Iranian security forces have subjected a Baloch citizen, Attaullah Nuhtani, to an enforced disappearance after arresting him without a judicial warrant or any official charges.
On June 6, 2026, forces intercepted Attaullah, son of Haji Majid, on Tahrullah Boulevard in Zahedan and moved him to an undisclosed detention facility where he was reportedly subjected to severe torture and beatings. Attaullah is the uncle of Jalil Nuhtani, who was killed alongside his son Muhammad Umar Nuhtani by military forces in Saravan on May 22, 2026. Weeks after the fatal clash, Iranian authorities continue to hide Attaullah’s whereabouts from his family while also refusing to hand over the bodies of his deceased relatives for burial.
The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) strongly condemns this enforced disappearance, custody torture, and the ongoing harassment of the family. We call on international human rights watchdogs and the United Nations to urgently intervene, hold the Iran accountable, and ensure Attaullah Nuhtani’s immediate safety and release.
