On the morning of July 19, 2026, Ahmed Ali Baloch, a resident of Yaro Pat, Sui, Dera Bugti, lost his life in a landmine explosion caused by explosives planted in civilian areas by state-operated death squads. This tragic event underscores the brutal reality faced by ordinary citizens in Dera Bugti, where state-backed armed groups turn everyday civilian surroundings into dangerous zones, putting youths, children, and livestock herders at constant risk.
This loss reflects the systemic violence inflicted upon the region, where enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and state-sponsored terror have become daily occurrences. Peaceful activists, students, and innocent civilians who speak out face harassment, arbitrary detention, and violent crackdowns by state authorities. The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons urgently demands an independent, transparent, and international investigation into the killing of Ahmed Ali Baloch, the immediate dismantling of state-sponsored death squads, and the complete clearance of landmines from civilian zones. We call upon the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances to take immediate action, hold the state of Pakistan accountable for these ongoing human rights violations, and protect innocent Baloch lives.
