11 YEARS OF UNJUST DETENTION: FORMER PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER JAMEEL AHMED SARPARAH REMAINS FORCIBLY DISAPPEARED BY STATE AGENCIES

25

The state forces of Pakistan forcibly disappeared Jameel Ahmed Sarparah, an innocent civil servant, former anchor, and son of Mir Abdul Ghani Sarparah, marking a painful 11th year of his continuous incommunicado detention on July 25, 2026. On July 25, 2015, personnel from intelligence agencies illegally raided his residence in Green Town, Saryab Road, Quetta, directly opposite the University of Balochistan and abducted him in front of his family. Originally from Kurdgap, Mastung district, Jameel Ahmed Sarparah held a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Balochistan and was serving as the Public Relations Officer to the Governor of Balochistan through the Information Department at the time of his forced disappearance. Prior to his government appointment, he served as an Information Officer, worked as an anchor for a Brahui literary broadcast on Radio Pakistan, and served as a sub-engineer for two years at the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) in Mastung, maintaining no affiliation with any political or religious group. Despite his public service and complete innocence, state authorities continue to deny his family any legal process, documentation, or news regarding his safety for over a decade.
The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons continues to raise its voice for innocent civilians suffering under systemic state suppression across Balochistan. We urgently appeal to the international community, human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances to take immediate, concrete action against ongoing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. Global authorities must hold the state accountable for its severe human rights violations, establish independent international investigations, and secure the safe, immediate release of all forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals.
