The state forces of Pakistan, under the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) led by SHO Umar Khosa, forcefully disappeared Riaz Baloch, an innocent 35-year-old tractor driver and son of Sajin Baloch, during an illegal home raid in Dera Bugti on June 12, 2026. During his unlawful detention, he was subjected to brutal custodial torture while state forces extorted PKR 5 million from his family for his release. Although his family paid the ransom to secure his release on June 13, 2026, Riaz Baloch was freed in critical condition and transferred to Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, where he succumbed to his severe injuries on July 10, 2026. This extrajudicial killing reflects the systematic pattern of enforced disappearances, torture, and financial exploitation committed against innocent civilians across the region.
The International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons continues to raise its voice for innocent civilians suffering under systemic state suppression across Balochistan. We urgently appeal to the international community, human rights organizations, the United Nations, and the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances to take immediate, concrete action against ongoing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. Global authorities must hold the state accountable for its severe human rights violations, establish independent international investigations, and secure the safe, immediate release of all forcibly disappeared Baloch individuals.
